What is MotionMind?
Understand how MotionMind equips AI agents with a studio-grade video production process and versioned records.
MotionMind is a CLI plus a skill for your AI agent. The CLI creates the workspace, checks your machine and runs the Studio; the agent does the video work inside that workspace. Setup takes about five minutes.
What You Need
- Node.js 22 or newer.
- ffmpeg and ffprobe on your
PATH, for rendering, loudness and contact sheets. On macOS:brew install ffmpeg. - An AI agent CLI that reads skills: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or OpenCode.
HyperFrames and its headless Chrome are downloaded automatically the first time they're needed.
1. Install the CLI
npm i -g motionmind
This gives you the motionmind command. The package carries the Studio, so the first install can take a few minutes (about 330 MB). Rather not install globally? Every command also runs as npx motionmind ….
2. Create a Workspace
motionmind setup my-studio
setup creates the folder where all your videos will live:
motionmind.store.jsonandprojects/: the version record and your projects.shared/brands/: logos, fonts and screenshots the agent may use.AGENTS.mdandCLAUDE.md: tell any agent opened here to use the motionmind skill..agents/skills/motionmind/: the skill itself, also linked at.claude/skills/motionmind.
It also installs the official HyperFrames skills into your agents' global skill folders. Skip that with --no-hyperframes-skill.
3. Check Your Machine
cd my-studio
motionmind doctor
Every line should start with ✓. A ✗ is something rendering needs (Node, ffmpeg, HyperFrames, Chrome), with the fix printed next to it. A ! is optional, for example when no agent CLI is found yet.
4. Open the Studio
motionmind ui
The Studio opens at http://127.0.0.1:4310 and is only reachable from your own machine. It shows every version the agent renders: player, contact sheet, loudness, QA status and compare. Keep this terminal running.
